Camp Stanley

This is one of the gates to Camp Stanley where I was stationed 28 years ago.  It is just outside the town of Uijongbu between Seoul and the DMZ.  To the right is what we called the Kimchi 7-11 because we would buy our beverages there before hopping in a taxi and heading down to Seoul.   Not surprising but it has changed ... a lot!

One of my highlight being here has been the chance to meet up with Mr. Kim my houseboy from 1982-1983.  His job was to shine boots, do laundry and keep the place tidy.  I believe that they made a good living at that time, but we all pitched in more for him because he did a great job and was very grateful.  The best thing about him was that he nice to be around.  I have kept in touch with him over the years with Christmas cards.  It was great to see him!
