Since there are no Home Depots, the Post Exchange will have to do.
GORDON TROUNSON
Long story short ... I'm back on Active Duty in Korea until the first of November serving as the Deputy Director, Korea Relocation Program Office – a $13 billion project. Google “Korean Relocation Program” for more details - it's pretty cool.
Sellmeyer's visit (Carolyn, Bill and Barbie)
Blair Schantz, Barbie, Bill and me at the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Cooooold!
The couple with us is Dave and Beth Hall. He is the Post Commander. His sister and Carolyn are long time friends. Small world that their little brothers are both Colonel's and stationed in Korea at the same time.
My first office visit by family!
Dinner at the Fish Market
We took the Chief of Army Corps of Engineers to dinner at the Fish Market. Selected what we wanted to eat then took it to a restaurant in the basement to prepare it for us. Besides great crab and prawns (huge) I tried live Octopus. Really no flavor but they really put up a fight clinging to your teeth - hence, the Soju! Pictured with with is Harry Kim who has been with the Corps for over 50 years. Great guy!
Korean Students and Television Studio
I was asked to help some students with an assignment they had to interview an American Army officer. The one on my right father is a well known TV personality and he invited me to his studio and dinner to say thanks.
Pictured along with James father and I, is Hubert and his two sons.
Back in the Army
This is at Fort Jackson where I re-entered Active Duty prior to going to Korea. When I arrived there, which is another story, a Drill Sergeant handed me two flat sheets (not the 400 count I was hoping for), a pillow case and a army wool blanket and took me to this location. Its an open bay building with about 40 bunk beds with wall lockers down the middle. It was not exactly the O6 quarters I had in mind. All in all it was quite alright and there were only six of us in there at the time. Welcome back to Active Duty!
One thing about the military you are always making new friends. Two great LTCs - Marvin and TC.
